Four teenagers forced a father to leave her daughter so they could take turns raping her in a park were arrested, reported the New York City Police Department, adding that a fifth suspect remains at large.
The woman of 18, victim of the attack, was with his father in the Osborn Park in Brooklyn at about 9 pm last Thursday when they were approached by five men, said the New York City Police Department.
One of them threatened with a gun to the father and daughter and forced to leave the area, police said.
Then each of the five attackers raped the woman, authorities said
The man told the CNN affiliate WABC, he was near the handball court with her daughter with a drink when the men arrived.
"One of them put a gun in my face, telling me to run, and then abused her all," said the father to WABC.
He said he did not have a cell phone with him at the time, so they went to a store to ask for help, but he said, the store did not call the police.
When the father returned with two police officers, the attackers were gone, authorities said.
The young victim told WABC she called for help, but none of them stopped.
"I did not know what to do," she said. "I had a lot of panic."
The victim suffered cuts on his arms, neck and knees during the assault, as told police spokeswoman Arlene Muniz. The girl was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated and released.
On Sunday night the authorities said the suspects - aged 14, 15, 15 and 17 years were in custody waiting to be charged. Two of the attackers were delivered and two others were captured, said the NYPD.
Authorities released a surveillance video where they say the five attackers is entering a store before the incident.
"I am deeply disappointed and saddened by the terrible attack which took place in Brownsville last night," said the mayor of New York, Bill de Blasio.
"Every New Yorker in every neighborhood deserves to feel safe and protected, and we will not stop until the perpetrators of this attack disturbing accountable for their actions are made. This administration has zero tolerance for sexual assault and work to ensure that such crimes do not reoccur again. "
